About Us

Why does Dryboat International® exist, and who is it for?

Dryboat International® was born out of frustration with the costly, invasive repairs — and has since evolved into the world’s first and only multi-patented drying system designed to restore wet coring in stringers, hull sides, bottoms, decks and more.

We provide boat owners, boatyards, marinas, dealers, and manufacturers with a proven solution to repair wet coring—without the costly tear-outs.

Backed by surveyors. Trusted by marinas. Proven on vessels across the United States and Canada.

2006
The Problem That Sparked a Breakthrough

In 2006, Jon Bartnick was preparing to trade in his 1987 Chris Craft 32' Amerisport. But when the boat failed its survey due to wet stringers, the only solution offered was a full tear-out and re-core — expensive, invasive, and time-consuming.

Jon set out to find a better way!

Through hands-on testing, he developed a unique drying system that removed moisture from the stringers—without removing the engines, hardware, or stringer material itself.

When the same surveyor returned after Jon’s experiment, he confirmed the stringers were dry — and cleared the vessel for sale.

That breakthrough became the foundation of what would eventually become Dryboat®.

2010
The First U.S. Patent Was Filed

In 2010, Jon Bartnick partnered with engineer, David Lundberg, to take the drying system to the next level.

After proving the method could reliably restore wet coring, they filed for their first U.S. patent.

This step marked the official beginning of Dryboat® as a patented technology — transforming a one-off solution into a scalable system for boat owners, boatyards, brokers, and marinas nationwide.

2016
The Second U.S. Patent Was Filed

In 2016, David Lundberg’s share of Dryboat® was acquired by Scott Richmond — a transition that ultimately led to the formation of Dryboat International®.

Scott Richmond developed and filed the second U.S. patent, further improving system efficiency while lowering costs for boat owners.

2018
The First U.S Patent Was Granted

Patent Number: 9,945,612 was officially granted.

2020
The Second U.S Patent Was Granted

Patent Number: 10,717,505 was officially granted.

2023
The First International Patent Was Filed

Dryboat International® develops and files its first international patent — which also constitutes the third U.S. patent — and completes the first service applications in Canada.

2025
Additional Patents In Progress

Additional national and international patents are underway, supporting continued innovation in the North American market and an expanding global presence.
