Pioneering Marine Restoration
Dryboat International® was founded on a simple premise: There had to be a better way to fix wet boats than cutting them apart.

The Dryboat® Story
For decades, boat owners faced a nightmare scenario: discover moisture in the core, and face a repair bill that could exceed the value of the vessel. Many boats end up in the boneyard simply because traditional repairs cost more than the vessel is worth. The industry standard was "tear out and replace", a destructive, expensive, and time-consuming process.
We knew there was a scientific solution. Combining principles from industrial drying, marine engineering, and fluid dynamics, we developed the Dryboat® Process.
Today, we are the global leader in non-invasive marine core drying. We've saved millions of dollars in vessel value for owners around the world, preserving the structural integrity of boats of all sizes without the need for major surgery.
Our Timeline
From a single Chris Craft to a multi-patented international standard.
Built out of adversity
- Jon Bartnick attempted to trade in his 1987 Chris Craft 32 Amerisport, but it did not pass survey due to wet stringers.
- Jon's partner suggested drying the stringers, then filling voids with epoxy. The surveyor who mapped out the boat was skeptical that they could dry it out.
- The newly developed system successfully dried the stringers to the satisfaction of the surveyor.
- That surveyor continues to be one of our best references.
- Nearly 20 years and two surveys later, the 1987 vessel still tests dry and solid in the areas serviced.
Ownership evolution + 2nd patent work begins
- Jon's partner's share of Dryboat® changed ownership to what has now evolved into Dryboat International®, which is now owned by Scott Richmond.
- Scott Richmond developed and applied for the 2nd U.S. Patent, enhancing efficiency and reducing the cost for boat owners.
- Scott developed the first portable drying system and enhanced pressure/heat adjustment.
First U.S. patent approved
